Finest folk music with umbrella, charm and top hat!
Silke and Dirk Kilian, in their roles as Harriet and Lawrence, play with umbrella, charm and top hat finest folk music from England, Ireland, Scotland and the New World! The folk music collections of Sir Francis Child and Cecil J. Sharp are their sources. With a diverse array of instruments, "The Joyful Kilians" celebrate music from the Victorian era. Touching songs tell stories of love, longing and wandering. Snappy jigs, reels and hornpipes invite a dance. Harriet and Lawrence Kilian transport the audience to the world of Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde and Queen Victoria. Lawrence conjures melodies and sound carpets on Irish harp, key fiddle, mandolin, guitar, wood whistle, bouzouki, bagpipes and Harriet adds the rhythm with frame drum, davul, spoons and washboard. A musical experience between tender romantic sounds and happy - fun-loving exuberance!
And for the Christmas season, "The Joyful Kilians" complete their program with Christmas carols from England and Ireland.
